Twentieth Century Fox issues cease & desist order to online “Serenity” RPG site

A post on http://www.fireflyfans.net has said that online RPG games site, AJJE Games, has been recently forced to close their “Serenity Leaf on the Wind” game club following receipt of a cease and desist letter from Twentieth Century Fox.

  1. I think that FOX should just butt out, “Serenity” and the term “Leaf on the Wind” aren’t their property, they came from the BDM. If anyone should, and could, take exception, it would be Universal Studios.

      That is an understandable reaction; however the BDM was a spin-off from Fox copyrighted source material and so “Serenity” in the context of a space ship called – is the property of Twentieth Century Fox. My understanding is that the game creators opted to base their game in “SERENITY” rather than “Firefly” as a way around the copyright issue. I am of the understanding that the rights have reverted back to Fox, hence why they and not Universal issued the C&D order.
