Welcome to Sending A Wave – the UK’s only monthly podcast about the TV show, “Firefly”, and film, “Serenity” both created by Joss Whedon.
The podcast was created by Toni Myers, Wendy Scott and Andrew Thorogood to give a more international slant to the “Firefly” fandom. It first aired in August 2006.
The show makes every effort to give a voice to the fandom and actively seeks out fans who are creating projects based on the show and film.
Sending A Wave is proud to be one of the sponsors of the annual “Can’t Stop The Serenity” global fund-raising for the charity, Equality Now. We also support the US based, Kids Need To Read. We were pleased to sponsor one of the bars at the WhedonTrack Shindig along with the South Eastern Browncoats at Dragon*Con 2010.
Sending A Wave was the only “Firefly”/”Serenity” podcast to be present at the failed Booster Events “Flanventon 2”, which became known as the “Back Up Bash” following the intervention of members of the Californian Browncoats in December 2006. We have covered three of the five “Firefly”/”Serenity” UK conventions run by StarFury Events, two of the three “Firefly”/”Serenity” conventions run by Creation Entertainment in the US.
Besides interviewing fellow fans such as Michael Dougherty regarding his fan film, “Browncoats: Redemption”, Karl Derrick about his contribution to the “Firefly Companion” books and successive CSTS Global Organisers and local CSTS event organisers; we have also been pleased to interview Greg Edmonson, Nathan Fillion, Tim Minear and Martin Firrell.
Since 2009 to present, Sending A Wave has been hosted and produced by Wendy Scott and Odile Thomas.
