Ron Glass: 1945 -2016

Ron Glass had an infectious laugh.

I know, as I heard it on a few occasions seeing him at cons.  He also had no problem with playfully chiding UK con attendees for only having the same questions or pauses.  I could see his point, we’d paid a lot of money to have him come a long way …

He unassumingly supported the Wooten Centre in Los Angeles.  The Hollywood Reporter carried a lovely piece about this which you can read, here.

You can donate directly to The Wooten Centre in memory of Mr Glass and full details are here.

He will be missed by the fan community.

Show 140: The One With CSTS 2016

CSTS 2016 4 ColorWelcome to the June show.

CSTS 2016 is officially underway with both the Browncoats of NYC and Utah Browncoats being the first to have held theirs, and Toronto will be soon.

I spoke with this years Global Event Organiser, Annie Burnaman, about the 2016 season.

If you want to find out if there is an event near you, please go to www.cantstoptheserenity.com.  If you think you want to run an event, please go to the website where you will find a cornucopia of information and the CSTS team who can help you with any query you can think of to help get you registered.  The window for registering to hold an event in 2016 is rapidly closing, so you’ll have to make haste.

Lastly, if, like me, you can’t get to an event this year or no event is near you, and you can’t run one yourself – don’t despair; you can still support by buying this year’s snazzy t-shirt from represent.com.

As always, I hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

You can find our podcast on iTunes, here is a direct link to our page.

Of course you can also download the show directly from here. Or listen to the show on PLayerFM by clicking here.  We can also be found on Stitcher.com here.  If none of those are for you, then you will always be able to listen to the latest show via soundcloud.com here.

Show 139: The One With The Firefly Podcast

Firefly PodcastWelcome to the May show.

Due to some unavoidable personal issues, this is much later released than I would have liked.

This show is a fabulous chat I had with Rob and Alex from The Firefly Podcast – and it is very much overdue.

If you don’t already listen to them and you’re curious about the RPG, this is the podcast that you’ve been looking for!  They can be found on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Music or you can follow them on social media via Facebook and Twitter.

Quick news catch up – Sean Maher is currently listed as a guest for this July’s London Film and Comic Con; you can get all details from http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com.

If you’ve been following @ConManSeries on Twitter and PJ Haarsma, you will know that the second series of “Con Man” is in pre-production.

Thanks to Stuart McKay for his kind donation – greatly appreciate it!

Show 137: The One About Fluxx

Fluxx FireflyWelcome to the March show, and it’s lovely to see you!

This month I speak with Andrew Looney, creator of the card game, Fluxx, about their “Firefly” edition that was released yesterday (18 March) and is now waiting for you to buy a set.

During the chat, I mention a games cafe in Nottingham, UK, and the name is The Dice Cup and their website is here.  So if you’re in the area, or even just visiting, check them out.

I also mention that there is a new fan film looking for support, “A Faithful Companion”; they have a Facebook page and their Indiegogo campaign page is here.

If you’re attending Silicon Valley Comic Con this weekend and Fan-X (Salt Lake Comic Con) next weekend and catch “Browncoats:  Independence War”, then drop me a line to sendingawave@gmail.com, as I’d like to hear what you think of it?

Show 135: The One About The Big Damn British Shindig and Comics

Big Damned British ShindigHello from an unseasonably warm UK.

Welcome to the January show – the first of  2016, and I hope that everyone has recovered from “STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS”?!

As I said in the December show, I’m talking about the “Leaves on the Wind” comic series from Dark Horse.  This was something that wasn’t talked about in any depth on their release, so it’s nice to revisit.

I also speak with Sarae Bettany and Steffani Benton about The Big Damn British Shindig which is scheduled for the UK August Bank Holiday weekend (that’s the weekend before DragonCon!) in Penzance, Cornwall.  If you’re interested in attending (I know I am!) you can visit their website, here, for tickets.

As always, I hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.
