Show 151: The One About CSTS 2017 Design Competion

csts-eqWelcome to the February show.

Very, very short this month; but what IS important is that Can’t Stop The Serenity is gearing up for this year and they NEED a design!

As in previous years, the Committee are calling on all Browncoats to submit a design.  If you fancy having a go, then please visit their website cantstoptheserenity.com where you are going to find all the details you need to take part.  The closing date is 6 March, so as the 10th Doctor would say, allons-y!

If you’re also considering hosting an event this year, the website is truly your one-stop-shop to have all your questions answered either by the information on the site OR contact them with your query.

As always, I hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

Show 150: The One From The Browncoat Family Reunion

bfu-2016Welcome to the January Sending A Wave – and a milestone of the 150th show!

In December 2016, Wendy attended the 10th anniversary event for 2006’s now “fabled” B3 Back-Up Bash in Los Angeles.  As the event drew nearer, it was decided to rename it the “Browncoat Family Reunion” and I’m pleased to say that that was exactly what it felt like.

I was able to see old friends, and re-acquaint myself with fellow fans not seen for a decade.

Thanks to Drew and Sheelagh from the Alberta Browncoats for their quintessential Canadian hospitality by allowing me to roomshare; to Scott Atkins for not only reminding people of the 10th anniversary, but also being a chauffeur for part of the weekend; and to Greg and Suzanne Edmonson for coming out to see out us

As always, I hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

Show 132: The One from CSTS London

IMG_1414 (2)Odile and Wendy make it to a 2015 CSTS event!

We had such plans for this year, Odile was hoping to get to Edinburgh, Wendy had planned to attend Beeston, but unfortunately, life got in the way and the only one we were able to attend was the London event in early October.

It was a fabulous venue along Regent’s Canal and Sue and her team organised a great event.

I must point out that due to the lovely weather, Odile and I decided to take advantage and recorded outside and so there is a lot of background noise.

Wendy also caught up with Annie from CSTS North Texas to chat about their event which took place in late September.

As always, we hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

Show 111: The One Not From EM-Con

Thanks for joining us for our March show!

This month Wendy speaks with Steve Barnett (@sine_cera_carp) about how he is helping keeping The ‘Verse alive through his hip flasks available via his store on Etsy – https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SineCeraCarpentry and also to Natalie Jones, one of the organizers for CSTS Wales who are kicking off 2014’s Can’t Stop The Serenity season with their event in Blackwood on 14 April.  All details can be found on their website http://cstswales.webs.com/

We also very briefly talk about our second “Firefly” RPG play and at some point, if Ryan (our GM) can stop showing us how wonderfully creative he is not only in his game devising, but also with the incredible props for the game he makes, he will be editing the full play we recorded and it will be released on our feed if you wish to hear just how we got on.

As always, we hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

PSA: Nerd HQ, Charity: Water, Kids Need To Read

A few things to remind you about:

1) Last 44 hours for you to support the first publication from Kids Need To Read.  Please support by going to their indiegogo compaign, http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-little-flame

2) Nathan Fillion is asking for you to contribute to http://my.charitywater.org/NathanFillion to celebrate his upcoming birthday and for every $10 donated you will be automatically entered into a draw to meet him.  So $10 = 1 entry, $20 = 2 entries, etc.  There has been full details on his Twitter feed if you wish to read.

3) A few years ago, Zachary Levi created something very special running alongside San Diego Comic Con – Nerd HQ.  As part of that, he and as many like-minded friends as he could muster, held panels to raise money for Operation Smile which is an international charity providing operations for children born with cleft palates.  The panels last year raised $215,000 for the charity, each operation costs approximately $240 – that raised enough for almost 900 procedures.  For 2014, Zach Levi needs our help to enable Nerd HQ to continue.  Yes, at $1m, it’s a lot of money, but we are only being asked to donate $5 each – you can donate more if you wish, but $5 is it.  I have no idea if I will ever be able to physically attend the San Diego Comic Con, let alone attend Nerd HQ, but I have enjoyed watching the panels from overseas and I want to see this continue.  I’m pleased to support this both personally and via this podcast.  Please watch the video below and donate at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/i-want-my-nerd-hq-2014
