Show 141: The One With The Edinburgh Browncoats

CSTS-2016-Logo-Color-Trans-SmallAlthough it only looks like there is 1 CSTS happening in the UK in 2016, I am so pleased that the intrepid Edinburgh Browncoats are hosting this!

I speak with Graeme about their event and their recent pub quiz too.

Unfortunately this is show is one of those learning curves. Not much of an excuse, but I have been rather busy during the week and I forgot to apply a filter in editing/post before exporting yadda yadda yadda.

All I can do is apologise on this occasion and hope you enjoy anyway.

As always, I hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

Show 137: The One About Fluxx

Fluxx FireflyWelcome to the March show, and it’s lovely to see you!

This month I speak with Andrew Looney, creator of the card game, Fluxx, about their “Firefly” edition that was released yesterday (18 March) and is now waiting for you to buy a set.

During the chat, I mention a games cafe in Nottingham, UK, and the name is The Dice Cup and their website is here.  So if you’re in the area, or even just visiting, check them out.

I also mention that there is a new fan film looking for support, “A Faithful Companion”; they have a Facebook page and their Indiegogo campaign page is here.

If you’re attending Silicon Valley Comic Con this weekend and Fan-X (Salt Lake Comic Con) next weekend and catch “Browncoats:  Independence War”, then drop me a line to sendingawave@gmail.com, as I’d like to hear what you think of it?

Show 131: The One With Shadows

London CSTS 2015Hello to one and all!

Here is our September show for you to enjoy.

Odile and Wendy say “good-bye” to summer by speaking with writer, Justin Fischer, about the forthcoming new “Firefly” fan film, “Shadows on the Wind” (shadowsonthewind.com; Twitter – @KTSSequel; Facebook Shadows on the Wind).

With the next UK CSTS event in early October in London, Wendy spoke with Sue from CSTS London about what they have in store for attendees this year.

As always, if you wish to learn more about the annual Can’t Stop The Serenity events, how we support Equality Now and many other charities with these fan events and especially if you want to organise one for your city/town in 2016, cantstoptheserenity.com is the only place for you to visit online.  There you will find help, advice, everything you need to run an event or to just find out where events are.

Don’t forget, it isn’t long to the release of “Con Man” and if you still have not yet responded to your perks email from the team – what are you waiting for?!

We also speak about a possible UK Browncoat Shindig run along similar themes to the US Brownout Ball in 2016, and we give a shout-out to friend of the podcast, John Mullaney, about his full 15 minute short film about his work on the new “Alien:  The Weyland-Yutani Report Collector’s Edition” book from Insight Editions.  The video here is not the full 15 minute version, but the condensed 90 second cut which was released in July.  As we say in the show, John was responsible for the Serenity cut-away available from QMx, and I’m sure when you watch both versions of his film, you will have a new appreciation of John’s work.

As always, we hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

You can find our podcast on itunes, here is a direct link to our page.

Of course you can also download the show directly from here! Or listen to us on PLayerFM by clicking here!

Show 130: The One From Two Continents

Browncoats FranceHello all!

We have a nice bundle for you all to listen to this month!

Both Odile and Wendy spoke with Laura and Sylvain from Browncoats France about their CSTS event on 10 October.  This is only the second CSTS event to have been organised in Paris, and they need our assistance with funding as I’m sure we can all appreciate that each country has their own regulations when it comes to public buildings.  They recently launched an Indiegogo campaign which you can go directly to here and even if you could only support them with 1 Euro …?  They also have their website, Browncoats.fr (how fabulous is that domain?!), Facebook page, and Twitter, @BrowncoatsFr.

Wendy spoke with Nyssa of the 28th Fighting Swans, Grande Prairie, Alberta in Canada about their preparations for their CSTS event for 2015.

Our last chat for this show is with the Toyvault team behind their new “Firefly” board game, A Fist Full of Credits.  We think this will be a great way to either kick off or add to any shindig due to its fairly short game play.  Once the game is available at your local gaming/science-fiction/convention dealer outlet – let us know what you think.

We also thank both Stuart McKay and Robert Moore for their virtual cups of coffee and tea this month.

If you are a “Con Man” contributor, don’t forget to respond to the second Pledge Manager email you would have recently received!

And lastly, this came through hours after recording; all congratulations to Alan Tudyk who is currently shooting the first of the stand-alone “STAR WARS” films, “ROGUE ONE” here in the UK.

As always, we hope you will enjoy the show and if you do, you can leave comments here or on our Facebook page or Twitter.

You can find our podcast on itunes, here is a direct link to our page.

Of course you can also download the show directly from here! Or listen to us on PLayerFM by clicking here!

Lastly, if you have liked what you have heard, please consider donating a virtual cup of coffee or pint of beer to us via our donate button on the right-hand side.
